SpeakerCraft Debuts Revolutionary A/V Distribution and Control System

C.I.S. - Your Source For SpeakerCraft Sales, Service and Installation in NC!

SpeakerCraft announced its ground-breaking new Nirv A/V distribution and control system.

SpeakerCraft, the world leader in custom installed loudspeakers and electronics, announced a ground-breaking new A/V distribution and control system. Called Nirv, the new system will feature several innovations that will obsolete many of the current offerings on the market.

“Being allowed to create the product from the ground up with no legacy system requirements gave us incredible design freedom,” says Jason Craze, SpeakerCraft’s Director of Electronic Development, who headed up the project. “We wanted the system to be powerful, flexible, simplistic to program and to operate with unparalleled audio and video quality. Our team has hit it out of the park in every area.”

The system has a modular architecture instead of a massive central hub design. This means the dealer will only need to buy the pieces necessary for the specific system he has designed and upgrading or expanding is as simple as adding what is needed to the network. On screen programming is so easy and intuitive it can be accomplished on-site by virtually anyone on the project team.
All media, data, control, and communication signals are distributed through a single CAT5 cable making system wiring both simple and cost efficient. Beyond standard A/V distribution, the system also integrates theatre surround sound, home automation, and page / intercom into one easy-to-manage package.

“It’s the first system of its kind that allows the user to own the experience instead of having the experience dictated by the equipment,” said Jeremy Burkhardt, SpeakerCraft’s President. “The system is almost transparent bringing content and control to the fingertips of the user through either touchpanel keypads or while navigating a GUI on the video screen. The remote single-handedly takes the complexity out of owning this type of system. You have to experience it to truly understand what a landmark product this is.”

That experience will first be available at the Nirv dome in the SpeakerCraft booth at the CEDIA Expo. Dealers will be able to see a full demonstration and talk to members of the design team. Product will begin shipping in the first quarter of 2010.

Apple Sells 300,000 iPads on First Day

CIS - Asheville's Choice for High End Home Electronics!

CIS - For All of Your Home Automation and Integration Needs!

iPad owners downloaded more than 1 million iPad apps and 250,000 e-books on Saturday.

Apple says it sold more than 300,000 iPads on the first day, including pre-ordered iPads sent to customers, retail sales, and deliveries to partners.

iPad owners downloaded more than 1 million iPad apps and 250,000 e-books on Saturday, the first day the iPad was available.

Apple is currently only selling Wi-Fi models of the iPad. The 3G version will be available in late April.

Kudos to those who braved the long lines this weekend. Clearly, you weren’t alone.

Piper Jaffray analyst Gene Munster estimated that by midnight Sunday, Apple will have sold 600,000 to 700,000 iPads, adding that there were 730 customers waiting to get inside the Apple Store on Fifth Avenue in New York on launch day.

It took Apple 74 days to sell one million iPhones, and three days each to sell one million units of the iPhone 3G and iPhone 3GS, says Brainstorm Tech.

“It feels great to have the iPad launched into the world,” says Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “It’s going to be a game changer.”

Geek Squad: Let Us ‘Sync’ Your 3D Glasses

When you want expert advice for home electronics and new technology, call CIS!Do you really need to sync the Blu-ray player through the USB port on the 3D glasses?

Best Buy’s offer of 3D synchronization service is “bogus,” according to HD Guru Gary Merson.

He notes that the new Samsung 3D TV package is now offered with Geek Squad installation ($150 value) that includes TV and Blu-ray player set-up, and connection to a wireless network.

But for that low-low price, the geeks will also “sync your 3D glasses for an amazing experience.”

As Merson notes: “The offer’s only problem is that there is no such thing as syncing 3D glasses. They sync automatically.”

So he called three Best Buy stores and talked to employees that said they were trained on 3D TV installation.

Here’s what they had to say about syncing the 3D glasses:

Blue shirt one said the glasses need to be synced with the Blu-ray player. The second geek referred to the 3D glasses needing to sync to the player via the USB port within the glasses, an impossible feat as there is no USB port on the glasses. The third stated the need to acquire the glasses’ IP address to sync with the Blu-ray player. There is no IP address for 3D glasses; they have no connectivity to the Internet or network. The Samsung battery powered glasses “sync” to the 3D content wirelessly via an infra-red pulse emitted by the TV.
